Ethiopia, Lasta, highland village, 2006
Many families in this village have stone houses, which means this village existed probably since long time, the other villages with no stone houses were created very recently. Before this whole area was covered in forest, but the trees were all cut and transported to other areas. In the night time it is very dark and far from any connection to the rest of the world, one can experience here how people lived about 1000 years ago. About 12 years ago (and other times before) this area had a dry period over a few years, no crop was growing and most people died. The government that time ignored the situation, and the one street in this area was littered with dying people, waiting for a car to bring food.
