China, Hechi, Zhuang villages, 2005
These photos come from the Hechi region, in the north of the GuangXi province where the Zhuang live. Their mountains are only 1200m high, but this area was so hard to reach, that the modern life of China arrived here only a few years later. Most roads were built in the year 2003, and in 2005 many villages still had no road.
